Authentically Connecting With Humanity In Facebook Groups
“Connecticut! I’ve never even heard of that place!”
I cried as I tried to catch my breath.
I was 6 years old and my parents had just told me that we would be moving from California, where I’d spent all of my memorable childhood.
But fast forward a few months and I got a letter in the mail from my friend Jamie. Then I got another letter in the mail from my friend April.
It was the ‘80’s and we didn’t have email or social media. But what we did have were genuine ways to stay connected on a personal level.
Today I get messages all the time. But too often they’re from people I don’t know. People regularly ask to connect with me. But when I message them, they don’t respond.
There is something so terribly wrong with this.
In my life and in my business, I’m on a personal mission to reconnect with the beauty of humanity.
For my business, I’ve developed a process to use Facebook groups to connect with possible collaborators and clients.
I identify groups to check in with. I search for comments where people express a pain point in relation to something I can help with. Then I reach out with help.
