Once upon a time, I was a passionate and idealistic 22-year-old. I wanted to know my own ethnic heritage better. So I moved to Rome, and taught English.

These days, I’m in the process of acquiring Italian citizenship. So I’m networking with other italophiles who either live in Rome or want to live there. And I learned that the challenges that I had teaching English in Rome nearly 20 years ago were still a problem today.

The difference is now I have more experience and skills. I created products that solved the problems we all saw with teaching English in Rome. Hence, Teach English In Rome was born.

Common Problems

There are seemingly an endless number of English schools in Rome. And it’s difficult to know where is good to work and where isn’t. This is especially difficult if you are new to working in the city.

Rome’s traffic is often congested. The buses are not reliable. And the metro lines are limited. What is more, English teachers often need to work at 2+ locations to make a full-time’s salary. So they may be in congested traffic more often.
