Chasing Bubbles in Rome, Italy

Getting lost is a wonderful way to get to know a new city. When I was in Rome last year, I wasn’t exactly getting to know a new city, but I was getting re-acquainted with a city that I used to know quite well. It was an interesting mixture of familiar and marvel.

When I happened upon the Piazza del Popolo, I was delighted to see an older gentleman making large bubbles that children and young parents chased. This captured my attention and filled me with joy as I reminisced on how doting my Italian grandparents were on me and how Italian culture cares for children especially.

This photo captured a scene that was gone in an instant. I’m glad that the viewer (you) can see a myriad of actors in the layered scene. But most of all, I like how the child’s joy is central.
