June Gloom in Huntington Beach, California

I spent my early childhood in Southern California and remember being able to go to the pool or play outside nearly any day of the year. But when I returned as an adult during the month of June two years ago, I was confronted with a different reality. June gloom was in effect for most of our trip between Los Angeles and San Diego.

In this photo I had stopped in Huntington Beach to see what the surf capital of the world was like. There were an amazing amount of surfers in the water. But what captured my attention in the above photo were the myriad of people on the beach enjoying a beautiful yet gloomy day.
