Imagine that you are in another time and place. Things are slower, people know their neighbors, and your livelihood is dependent on the natural environment. You live in a place that is home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

You know that history students all over study about the Mycenaeans, but you can see remnants of their civilization only minutes from your home. You know that literature students all over study about the dangerous sirens in Homer’s Odyssey, but you can see at any time you want their home near the 2 rocks jutting of the clear blue Tyrrhenian sea.

Your boat speeds across the sea as the sun lights up the sky orange and yellow and gold. You are by yourself, but you are not alone. The Mycenaeans, the sirens, Homer, and Odysseus all keep you company at the end of the day in the beautiful sea just off the coast of the island of Lipari.
