Mistakes You May Be Making With Email Marketing
When I heard of email marketing termed as the ugly stepchild of marketing, I didn’t first understand what the speaker was talking about.
But then I realized that email marketing is often the least talked about strategy with the population of microbusiness owners that I work with. And in reality, when done right, it can be more akin to a stealth submarine of a strategy.
Unfortunately, most 1–4 person businesses do not leverage email marketing well. In this post I’ll address the top mistakes I see made most often. This way you can see if you have any room to strengthen your own email marketing strategy.
You don’t do email marketing.
When I’m evaluating a business for how much help they can use, an indicator that I look for first is if the business has a regular social media presence but no email marketing.
This combination of indicators tells me that there is a lot of unmet potential to set up an automated email cadence that will work to warm up prospects while the business lead is doing other things.
But when a business does not have any system at all set up for email marketing, this is a missed opportunity to leverage resources and marketing collateral in the most efficient way possible.
