I made my way to Agrigento after spending a few days in Trapani and Marsala. It was my last stop on a nearly month-long trip through parts of Italy that had captured my heart nearly 20 years earlier. I decided to visit Agrigento to see the Fallen Icarus Statue at the Valley of the Temples and the famous Turkish Steps. I had also heard that this area of Sicily is the most beautiful.

I was happy that I was able to meet my tourist goals in a few short days and see a bit of the town. Unfortunately, the town is not as well taken care of as my other stops in Sicily. But I found spots of absolute beauty and artistry throughout historic Agrigento.

One such beautiful scene was the sheets in this image. They blew in the wind to a rhythm that was enthralling. I stood underneath them for several minutes so that I could capture the sun just right. The sheets hanging off the balcony, the weathered stone wall, and the gentle light all reminded of a characteristically southern Italian scene.
