What content should a small business put in email marketing?
When you hear the phrase email marketing, do you run for the hills?
In a time when email can spin out of control as companies are automatically enrolling you in their lists and promoting their messages with paid advertising, email marketing for your small business may be the last thing you want to do.
I confess that this was me for the longest time.
But a few years ago, I got super excited about setting up an automated series of welcoming emails.
This took the stress out of continuously scheduling new content for new subscribers and still gave them the warm welcome that they were hoping for.
Though, I was still left with a gap of what content to send so that I could regularly.
Below looks at what regularly occurring content I found works for ongoing email marketing.
Celebrate Special Occasions
People are more more likely to be in high spirits during holidays and special occasions. In turn, they are more likely to be receptive to email content that plugs into these warm feelings.
Think of the special occasions that relate to your industry, and then think of how you can recognize that occasion. The obvious examples are Christmas and New Years.
But what if you run a photography business?
You can celebrate Gordon Parks’s or Julia Margaret Cameron’s birthday.
Maybe you have a travel service specializing in tours to Italy. Then, celebrate the Italian holidays.
Give Sneak Peaks
As a jack of all trades for your small operation, you want to repurpose content as thoroughly as you can.
This will allow you to be focused in your marketing efforts and will free up time for you to do other aspects of your business.
If you plan out your content calendar in advance, you will know what blog posts, images, gifs, and videos you will be creating several months out.
