Why I Ditched Wordpress for Squarespace

It was a busy Monday, and I’d spent most of the morning sprinting to meet tight deadlines. Then at lunchtime I found myself standing in line with a colleague at the Whole Foods Market.

“How was your weekend” he asked.

At first I wanted to say “Great, yours?”

But what I ended up telling him was the truth. I’d spent 5 hours on the phone with my website hosting provider to try to get my Wordpress website back up and running.

See, at this time, I was still salaried, but I was starting to get a lot of attention for the blog that you see on this website. So when the entire site crashed one day, I freaked out. And I decided that was the beginning of the end of my Wordpress experience.

Since that time, I’m happy to say that I’ve left Wordpress for something much better — Squarespace.

In this blog post I’ll go into the specifics of why I now recommend Squarespace to nearly every business owner that I meet.

Clear Messaging Is What You Need

The top goal of 99% of business websites is to clearly communicate the value of the company so that visitors will perk up and tune in. In order to do this, you don’t need complicated technology or endless amounts of plugins.
