Why I Want To Be Italian
I’ve decided to intermittently write about my interest in Italy on this blog. This because I want to show you a side of my personality that is essential to who I am. I’ve come to the point of saying now that if you took my Italian heritage away from me, I don’t know who I would be.
For the past two years, I’ve been pursuing Italian citizenship, which I’m eligible for through my family heritage. In this post, I write about why I want to be Italian. This way you’ll understand more about me so you can decide if you want to continue to follow me or if you want to work with me.
Reason #1: Locally Sourced Food
I lived in Italy for a year after college then I moved back to the U.S. The biggest challenge that I had in my post-Italy life was the taste of U.S. produce. No matter how organic the produce was, nothing tasted as fresh as it did in Italy. Every piece of produce tasted artificial and like some type of chemical. I don’t know the intricacies of how food is sourced in the U.S. and in Italy. But I know that when I lived in Rome I would get all my produce in the local piazza. And I would chat with the people who brought the fruits and vegetables into Rome from the local farms that very morning. Needless to say, that does not happen in the U.S. As I get older, I am becoming more concerned about what I put in my body. I want to have…
