I made my way from Castel Sant’Angelo toward Piazza San Pietro, then I headed south to take a stroll along the Tiber River. The streets got narrower and more winding, and I knew I was in a part of Rome that had a different history.

When I lived in Rome when I was much younger, I learned that Trastevere was where people went to grab a drink or a bite to eat with friends. Later I learned that historically Trastevere had a more familiar history in contrast to the opulence from the other side of the river.

The streets give you the feeling of a slower pace, then a motorcycle zooms past and reminds you that Rome is a bustling city where there is always something going on. When in Trastevere, you are quite literally on the other side of the river. Nevertheless, you are still in Rome, the city that never sleeps.
