How To Reverse Engineer Your Hopes And Dreams

In times of heightened anxiety, I find myself worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. I know this is a typical human tendency, and it’s what keeps us safe from danger.

But I have a pretty active imagination. So worrying too much doesn’t do me much good. This is one reason why I incorporate journaling, meditation, and sketching into my regular routines.

If you’re like a lot of people, your forward thinking tendencies don’t only keep you worrying. They also lead you to fantasize about your hopes and dreams.

One of my dreams is to be able to live in Italy one day . To me, this is a pretty lofty goal. So I researched and found a process by Pia Silva. Then I adapted the material so I could reach my dreams in the most efficient way possible.

This process has me start from the conclusion, the legacy I leave behind. From there I work backward to identify my quarterly and yearly goals. In this article, I give an overview of my process.

Step 1: Write Your Eulogy

Think of what hopes and dreams you have. Now imagine that we’re far into the future. What do people say about you when you’re gone? What’s your eulogy?
